Tyler Posadovsky's Wine and Cheese Night for Parkinson's Disease

Blog by Geoff Walker - RE/MAX Absolute Walker Realty | July 5th, 2023

The Walker Real Estate group takes great pride in the people that they hire, the newest realtor joining the team is Tyler Posadovsky. He was born in Kelowna, BC, and his family came to  Ottawa in 2008 because it offered more opportunities in education, work and overall a better lifestyle. He attended Carleton University and obtained a degree in Information Technology. Prior to his career in real estate, he was a user experience designer at a large telecommunications company. User experience is a client-facing profession. He spent a lot of time getting to know the clients that he worked with, understanding their needs and wants. It was here that he discovered his passion for working with clients and providing services with the best user experience possible. Real estate has always been an industry of interest to him and he started to wonder if he would be able to apply his skills in user experience to a different industry. Fast forward to today- he couldn't be happier he decided to become a Realtor. “I love feeling more connected to the community, building meaningful relationships with my clients and being a part of the emotional journey that they go through when buying or selling a home. Creating the best experience possible is always top of mind, “ I see my educational background and previous profession as a huge asset.” Tyler held a successful wine and cheese night with live music entertainment to raise funds for Parkinson's disease. The event was held on June 24th from 5:30 - 10pm located at the Jabulani Vineyard and Winery in Richmond, Ontario. The main reason why Tyler decided to support Parkinson's disease was, “ Looking for a charity to support, I was connected with a member of an organization in Ottawa called Boxing 4 Health, which is a fitness program for people with Parkinson's and seniors”. They understand the struggles of Parkinson's deeply and also the importance of having a support system. Seeing the community that they had created struck a chord with him; it shows that it is still possible for anyone struggling with this disease to live a life of normalcy and enjoyment. He decided to team up with Boxing 4 Health and donate all ticket proceeds from the event to their organization, which goes straight to Parkinson's research and support.” The overall turnout of the event was around 100-110 people and they raised a total of $3839.92 from the ticket sales, silent auction and a 50/50 draw. Tyler is definitely planning to do another wine and cheese night for Parkinson’s disease again next year. It will hopefully become an annual event!
